In order to provide the adequate infrastructure i.e construction of school buildings etc for providing quality education, various schemes/interventions have been started as detailed below;-
Rashtrya Madhmik Shikshsha Abhyan(RMSA)
The scheme has been launched with a aim to remove gender, socio-economic and disability barriers and making secondary education of good quality available, accessible and affordable to all young persons in the age group of 14-18 years.
Girls Hostel-RMSA:-
The construction of 100 bedded Hostel for girls students at HSS Girls Poonch was started during the year 2014-15 with the estimated cost of Rs.282.15 lacs out of which Rs.247.15 have been utilised and the building has been completed. The completion of the Girls Hostel not only encourages the girl education but also provide better opportunity to avail quality education for the girls students hailing from far flung areas of the district.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan SSA:
SSA is one of the major Flagship Programme of the govt and the goal of the scheme is to provide elementary education for all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years and to bridge social/gender gaps with active participation of the community in the management of schools. This programme is also an attempt to provide an opportunity for improving human capabilities to all children through provision of community owned quality education in a mission mode.
In district Poonch, in spite of hardships at local level during the last 14 years, almost 85% targets in the shape of construction of PS Buildings stands achieved i.e. out of 725 buildings, 613 are completed up till now .In case of Middle school Buildings 90% target stands achieved i.e. 16 buildings out of 18 are completed.
In case of ACRs (Additional Classrooms) 72% target is achieved, which may rise upto 90%, during the current year 2018-19 on completion of 297 ACRs which are in progress at different levels.
Mid Day Meals Scheme.
MDM is Centrally Sponsored Scheme and is launched with the following objectives.
- To boost universlization of Elementary Education (class 1st to 8th) by improving enrolment, attendance, retention and learning levels of children especially those belonging to disadvantaged section.
- To improve nutritional status of students of elementary stage.
- To eliminate class room hunger.
- To maintain social integration and communal harmony.
- To involve parents in governance of schools.
- To involve PRIs/villagers and District/Block authorities in monitoring mechanism.
Presently 64777 students of 1471 schools having primary and Upper Primary stages are benefitted under the scheme and the funds at the ratio of 90:10 as Central and State Share has been provided on regular basis under Cooking cost, Honorarium to Cook Cum Helper, cost of Food grains and MME (Management, monitoring and Evaluation).
Model Schools:-
In order to effectively enhance the quality of education, the existing Higher Sec, Schools have been converted into Model Schools and the interventions such as provision of physical infrastructure, enrichment of school environment by engaging children in co-curricular activities, and strengthen the academics by providing human resource, teaching facilities etc.have been provided.
In district Poonch, the following Higher Secondary schools have been converted as Model Schools in phased manner in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

District Plan
District CAPEX efforts are being made to strengthen the school infrastructure by providing funds for construction/repair of school buildings, purchase of text books for the students, purchase of Teaching –Learning Material, strengthening of Laboratories and clearance of land compensations cases etc.
BADP Plan:
Under BADP, the construction/repair work of the schools located on 0-10 Kms in Border Blocks of the district are executed, every year
Scholarships.
The scholarship on the prescribed rates has been provided to the regular students of Gujjar & Bakerwal and Pahari Categories every year through their Bank Accounts.
