Handloom & Handicrafts Department

Handloom and Handicrafts sector occupies a significant place in the socio economic upliftment of masses in District Poonch. The sector represents the continuity of the age old Indian heritage of various hand embroideries and hand weaving .It reflects the socio-cultural tradition of the artisans and weaving communities. The District Poonch is famous for product like Sozni shawls, stapple suits, Chikhri wood items ,lois, pattos, chashme bulbul blankets, shawls etc. The Handicrafts and Handloom Department promotes all these trades by providing skill training , loans, societies , karkhandar etc. It plays a crucial role in employment generation of weaker sections of the society.

CENTRALLY SPONSORED SCHEME

PRADHAN MANTRA MUDRA SCHEME .

This Scheme Is Centrally Sponsored aims at Providing an Adequate and Timely Credit Up To Rs.50.000 To 2.00000 Lac. From The Bank To Beneficiary to Meet their Credit Requirement I.E. For Investment Need and as Well as In Working Capital in A Flexible And Cost Effective Manner. The Scheme Entails For 10,000 Maximum As Margin Money.

CREDIT CARD SCHEME

The object of the Credit Card Scheme For Artisans &Weavers In Handloom And Handicrafts sector is to provide adequate and timely assistance from the financial institutions to the artisan and weaver to meet their credit requirements.
Credit limit would be fixed based on the assessment of working capital requirement.
A maximum credit limit of Rs. 2.00 lakh will be fixed with loan component of Rs. 1.80 lakh and beneficiary’s contribution of Rs..20,000/-which will be margin money.
The limit shall be valid for a period of five years subject to annual review by the competent authorities.

TRAINING PROGRAMME
1) 20 training centers are being run by the Handicrafts wing throughout the district under different trades. (out of which 11 centres are in session FY 2024-25)
2) 6 training centers are being run by the Handloom wing at various places. (out of which 02 centres are in session FY 2024-25)

EDUCATION SCHEME FOR CHILDREN OF WEAVERS/ARTISANS
The following amount of scholarship shall be provided to the eligible pupils of weavers/artisans.
1. Up to Primary Education: Rs. 1500 per student per year.
2. From 6th to 10th Class: Rs. 2000 per student per year.
3. From 11th to 12th Class: Rs. 3000 per student per year.
4. For Technical/Professional: As per actual course fee fixed by the Government.

KARKHANDAR SCHEME
This scheme will identify and impart skill upgradation training in languishing crafts such as weaving, wheat straw baskets, Sozni, Pottery.
Rs. 2000 will be paid per trainee per month(5 to 10 trainees)
– Rs. 2000 per trainee per month will be given to the master trainer
Rs 25000 will be given for raw material and other expenses to the master trainer
It will be for the period of six months.
